Physiotherapy That's Part of Something Bigger
Physiotherapy at PhysioChiroWellness doesn’t exist in isolation — and that’s exactly what makes it more effective than physiotherapy at a standalone clinic.
Consider a Newmarket patient recovering from a total knee replacement at Southlake Regional. Their physiotherapist manages the formal rehabilitation program — range of motion, strength rebuilding, gait retraining. But simultaneously, our massage therapist works on the surrounding soft tissue restrictions limiting full range of motion. Our acupuncturist uses needling to reduce post-surgical inflammation and pain. And our naturopath assesses nutritional factors — collagen synthesis, omega-3 status, vitamin D — that influence healing and recovery. Each discipline informs the others. The patient recovers faster, more completely, and with fewer setbacks.
Or consider a Newmarket teenager recovering from a soccer concussion. Their physiotherapist manages the vestibular and cervicogenic components of their post-concussion syndrome. The chiropractor addresses upper cervical joint dysfunction contributing to headaches. And the naturopath assesses nutritional factors — omega-3 status and magnesium — that influence neurological recovery. The staged, multi-disciplinary approach produces a return to play that is both faster and safer than any single discipline alone could achieve.
This is what integrated physiotherapy looks like in practice. And it’s why our Newmarket patients get better.

I have been going to PhysioChiroWellness off and on since 2018. The staff are amazing at their jobs especially Dr. Winters and Felicia. Whenever I have an appointment with Dr. Winters he addresses any and all of my concerns without any hesitancy, not to mention the bonus part of the appointment Mr. Jackson. I can’t even explain what his presence means to me during my appointments, whenever I feel down or stress ed he always senses it and does something to brighten my day. He’s such an amazing addition to my day when I see him. Jackson you are a one of a kind dog and I hope they are paying you well in treats 🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🦴🦴🦴🦴🦴🦴

The staff at PhysioChiroWellness are amazing! They go above and beyond to ensure that they assist me with my pain management and ensure I have all the tools to help in my recovery. Dr.Winter is amazing and he is really shows us that he cares and takes very good care of me and my family when we attend at the office for treatment. Felicia the massage therapist knows what she is doing and also helps me manage my pain. The reception at the front are super helpful and always keep my appointments on track. They also have a therapy dog Jackson! He is so sweet and always curls up beside and and calms me down when I am in chronic pain from my herniated disc. I love seeing Jackson in the clinic and he sets the clinic apart from other Chiropractic offices. Well done to PhysioChiroWellness for including a therapy dog for your clients. I truly appreciate you all especially our fan favourite Jackson.

I decided to edit my review. Now that I have been going there for so long, I must give some personal credits. Chris, the kinesiologist, is my guy for exercising, mobility and stretching; no one can top him, he is excellent. Felicia the Massage therapist is the best deep tissue therapist I have ever been to; listens to your aches and treats them one by one back to original state. Dr. Winter is the Chiropractor - caring, knowledgeable and brings you back to where you need to be physically. Jackson is an amazing poodle mix who makes everyone, including myself, feel at home, calm and relaxed. He is a therapy dog in my eyes; kind, welcoming, and shows you right to the room you need - Dr. Winter is Jackson's dad; Best duo ever. The front desk staff is beyond welcoming and makes you feel right at home. This place is my personal happy place. Sorry it was long, but can't recommend them all enough. At this point, they are all like family. I wouldn't change a thing.

Frequently Asked Questions — Physiotherapy in Newmarket
Do I need a doctor's referral to see a physiotherapist in Newmarket?
No. Physiotherapy in Ontario is a direct-access profession — you can book an appointment at our Newmarket clinic without a physician’s referral. Some extended health benefit plans require a referral for reimbursement, so it is worth checking your specific plan’s requirements. But to book and receive treatment, you can come directly to us without seeing your doctor first.
Is physiotherapy covered by OHIP in Newmarket?
Private physiotherapy clinic services are not covered by OHIP. However, physiotherapy is one of the most widely covered paramedical services in Canadian extended health benefit plans. We direct-bill most major insurers. If you have been injured in a motor vehicle accident, your auto insurance covers physiotherapy through the HCAI framework. WSIB covers physiotherapy for approved workplace injuries.
What should I expect at my first physiotherapy appointment in Newmarket?
Your initial appointment is typically 60 minutes. Your physiotherapist will take a thorough health history, conduct a hands-on physical assessment, and begin to outline your treatment plan. Depending on the nature of your injury, some treatment may begin in the first session. You will leave with a clear understanding of your diagnosis, what is driving your symptoms, and what the treatment path forward looks like.
How long will my physiotherapy treatment take?
Treatment duration varies depending on your condition and its history. Acute injuries often make significant progress in 4–8 sessions. Post-surgical rehabilitation typically spans 3–6 months for major joint surgeries. Chronic conditions may require a longer initial course with ongoing maintenance physiotherapy. Your physiotherapist will give you a frank, realistic estimate after your initial assessment.
Do you offer physiotherapy for children and teenagers in Newmarket?
Yes. We treat younger patients for sports injuries, scoliosis, growing pains, concussion, and musculoskeletal developmental concerns. Our physiotherapists are experienced in adapting their approach to pediatric and adolescent patients, including providing concussion management for student athletes at Newmarket-area schools and sports programs.
Do you offer pelvic floor physiotherapy for men as well as women?
Yes. While pelvic floor physiotherapy is often associated with women’s health, male patients also benefit significantly from this specialized treatment. Common conditions we treat in men include urinary incontinence (particularly after prostate surgery) and pelvic pain syndromes. Our pelvic floor physiotherapists treat both female and male presentations with equal competence and sensitivity.
Can you treat my WSIB injury at your Newmarket clinic?
Yes. Our Newmarket clinic is authorized to treat WSIB-covered workplace injuries. You do not need to pay out of pocket for approved WSIB treatment. We provide thorough assessment, evidence-based treatment, functional rehabilitation, and the detailed clinical documentation your WSIB claim requires. We also provide functional capacity evaluations and return-to-work planning as needed.
How is PhysioChiroWellness different from other physiotherapy clinics in Newmarket?
The defining difference is our integrated, multi-disciplinary model. Most physiotherapy clinics in Newmarket offer physiotherapy alone. At PhysioChiroWellness, your physiotherapist works in direct, daily collaboration with chiropractors, registered massage therapists, a naturopathic doctor, and acupuncture practitioners — all under one roof, all communicating actively about your care. The clinical outcomes this coordinated approach produces are consistently better, and our patient testimonials reflect that.
Do you offer physiotherapy for seniors in Newmarket?
Yes, and senior care is a clinical priority for our Newmarket team. Our physiotherapists are experienced in fall prevention programs, osteoarthritis management, post-surgical rehabilitation (particularly hip and knee replacement), balance and gait retraining, neurological rehabilitation for Parkinson’s and stroke, and pain management for degenerative musculoskeletal conditions. We work closely with family physicians and the Southlake Regional team to ensure continuity of care for our older patients.
