A suboccipital headache is characterized by a deep dull constant throbbing at the base of the skull. Pain cause by this type of headache is felt on one side of the head, and it extends from the back of the head to the eye. It may also cause another health issues such as neck stiffness.

The suboccipital muscles are the group of muscles located in both sides  of the back of the neck and right below the base of the skull. The function of these muscle group is to connect the skull with the top two vertebrae of the neck. These muscles are also in control of the all turns and tips of the head.
