Stretching Exercises for Foot Pain Due to High Heels

There are many common causes for foot pain or ankle pain. Feet are the foundation for human movement. They give us the ability to successfully navigate our bodies throughout our daily activities. When there is dysfunction in the feet or ankles, that dysfunction can translate to the shins, knees, thighs, hips, and even the lower back. That is why it is important to do stretching exercises for foot pain, especially if the pain is caused by high heels.

Most common types of foot pain are:

  • Heel Pain
  • Plantar fasciitis: It is an inflammation from the heel bone to the toes. Symptoms may include severe pain in the morning. It is felt in the heel or arch.
  • Heel spurs: Abnormal growths of bone on the bottom of the heel. Usually, wrong shoes, bad walking habits, and posture contribute to the grow of spurs in the heel. People with flat feet or high arches are more likely to have painful heel spurs.
  • Stone bruise Bruise of the fat pad of the heel. Often caused by impact.
  • Arch Pain

  • Flat feet: The arches of the feet flatten out.
  • Toe Pain
  • Gout Common form of arthritis that develops pain in the toes as well as swelling.
  • Bunion Bony bulge along the edge of the foot. It is characterized by the misalignment of the first toe joint. It often shows up as people age.
  • Hammertoe Middle joint bent in second, third, or fourth toe. Comes from a muscle imbalance or by wearing ill-fitting shoes.
  • Claw toe Misplacement of toes pointing down or up, but cannot be straighten. Results from a nerve damage.
