How long do I have to wear a brace for?
Wearing a brace is a supplement to your treatment. That means you should be wearing it as instructed during your rehabilitation program. Afterwards, you can wearing for maintanance as needed.
Is propioception feedback important?
Yes, it is! Propiocepcion feedback is continiously strengthening your muscles, hence making them healthy. If your muscles are not moving, they are at risk of atrophy. We often see patients who purchased cheap braces with no propioception feedback, and their condition has gotten worse. This kind of braces are only holding your muscles in place. Think of them as a belt.
Are braces safe to clean in a washer and dryer?
We recommend to wash by hand and let them dry after wearing for 12-24 hours. Using a washing and drying machine may affect the structure of the stays.
What orthopaedic braces should I wear after a fracture in the knee?
After a fracture you would start with a rigid brace. Once the compromised structures are stronger and stable, you would wear a functional knee brace.
