How to Prepare for a Massage
How to Prepare for a Massage
If you are about to get your first massage or you have massage on the regular basis, here are some helpful tips on how to prepare for a massage that will help you put your mind at ease and make the most out of your appointment.
- First things first, be mindful of your diet. Now, this does not mean you have must undertake a rigorous eating pattern to improve a massage’s effectivity, it just means there are certain elements that will make your experience much more relaxing and enjoyable. So if you can, make sure to drink lots of water, have a cup of teat, and eat lightly or have a snack before your appointment. Avoid drinking tons of caffeine or alcohol.
- One of the easiest ways to prepare for a massage is to have a little stretch before coming to the clinic. This will help prepare your body for all the fantastic muscle manipulation during the massage. Simple reach your hands over your head for 5 seconds. Then bend at the waist and try to touch your toes. Slowly swivel from left to right.
- Comfortable clothing will make it extra special. Wear lose fitting comfortable clothes and shoes as if you were going to the gym. Wearing accessories such as high heels can offset your post-massage relaxed muscles. If you are going to work or coming back from it, don’t worry! We can lend you a gaun for your session.
- Before the massage, tell our therapist if you have epilepsy, heart troubles, or allergies.
- Ask as many questions as you may have. Our RMT is well educated and can answer you any lingering questions regarding the therapy.
- Communicate with our massage therapist during the massage. Let her know if you become too cold or too hot, if she should use more or less pressure, let her know of any sensitive areas, etc.
- Finally, let your thoughts go, focus on the touch, breath normally and relax!
