Compression socks are a medical graded stockings designed to help prevent venous disorders such as edema, thrombosis, varicose vains, leg pain and leg fatigue. They are specially made from a snug-fitting and stretching material that lightly compresses the leg. Compression stockings are tigher around the ankle and get looser as they move up to the leg.
The medical graded pressure allows the blood vessels on the legs to work better by promoting circulation and pushing blood back to the heart. As a result, there is a continous movement of blood and oxygen through the legs, hence preventing any accumulation of blood or the appearance of blood clots.
People wear compression socks for various reasons. They may be looking for daily comfort, to improve sport performance, and/or to help prevent serious medical conditions. Compression socks come in different sizes and strengths. You and our chiropractors will decide which option works best for you.
