Most Common Soccer Injuries
Most Common Soccer Injuries
The 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil are fast approaching. With less than a 100 days away from the competition, more and more people are getting excited about the most popular sport in the world: soccer. The past edition of World Cup, also held in Brazil, took the world by surprise with passionate games, many fouls and one infamous Brazilian injury. However, it is not surprising that in this sport with such intensity players get injured frequently. Here are some of the most common soccer injuries:
Knee Injury
The knee is probably the part of the body with most risk of getting injured in a soccer match. Do not mistake any collision between two opposing players leaving one in the ground as weakness. Any twist, turn, spin, tackle, hit or fall will be a toll on the player. Even if it looks harmless on TV, one foul involving a player’s knee could lead to ligament tears, cartilage tears, and many others. This could easily leave a player out of the game for months!
Foot Injury
The average foot contains five metatarsal bones that can easily get injured when in heavy contact with another player. A well remembered example of this injury would be Beckham’s injury in 2002 when he was tackled in a bad position, and all of the sudden, his metatarsal fractured.
Groin Injury
Soccer is a sport that requires a lot of leg stretching, so it comes in no surprise a groin strain could happen. The back thighs are in charge of providing flexibility to the knee and hip. Muscle tears in the groin area often happen when running, stretching, turning and even sticking a ball.
Next time you play soccer during this summer, avoid any common soccer injuries by warming up and stretching. Give them enough time so your body is ready for the game. In case of an injury, don’t forget to call us, and we will be ready to assist you.
