Active Release Therapy for Running Injuries
Active Release Therapy for Running Injuries
It is spring, and for many people it means it is time to get back at running. Chances are that if you stopped running for a while and you pick it up again, an injury may be waiting to happen. Some studies estimate that nearly 80% of runners injured themselves every year. If you are one of them, consider active release therapy for running injuries. If you don’t know what active release is all about, watch the following video and read this article:

What is active release therapy?
Also known as active release technique (ART), It is a manual therapy technique that treats problems in muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. ART examines the adhesions within and in between the soft tissue that can result in acute, cumulative, na pressure injuries. These adhesions may cause a change in the motion of muscles and joints leading to pain, discomforts, weakness, reduced range of motion, numbness and tingling.
ART will be performed by our chiropractors with direct contact to the affected area. The practitioner will indicate the patient how to perform certain movements while he or she follows the protocol of active release therapy. The chiropractor hands on therapy along with the patient’s instructed movement will allow the adhesions to separate, hence alleviating pain.
