10 Tips For A Healthy Lifestyle
10 Tips For A Healthier Lifestyle
Making just a few changes in your lifestyle can help you feel better, be healthier, and enjoy the most out of life. A recent study explains that daily bad habits such as smoking, excessive drinking, lack of exercise, and bad nutrition can lead to a shorter life-spam by up to 12 years! Fortunately, anyone can accomplish a healthy lifestyle just by adopting healthier behaviours. Here are 10 tips we recommend:
Start Everyday With A Positive Mind
Don’t put negative energy into your day. From the day you wake up to the moment you go to bed, try to stay as positive as you can. Granted, this may not be too easy due to our modern hectic life, but it will get easier by day until it just blends with you.
Eat Well, But Don’t Overeat
Leaving a little bit of food on your plate may be a good idea. St. Louis University researchers have confirmed in a 2008 that limiting calories lowered production of T3, a thyroid hormone that slows metabolism. A slowed down metabolisim can lead to digestive conditions, obesity, heart condition and more.
Contrast Showers
One of the secrets professional athletes do to improve their performance is contrast showers. This means you have to end your shower with 1 minute of water as hot as can handle followed by 30 seconds of as cold as you can handle. Repeat this 3 times. The difference in temperature has the therapeutic benefit. Contract showers increase circulation, help remove toxins, stimulates lymphatic circulation which improves your immune system and it wakes you up!
Turn Off The TV
Spending too much time in front of the TV can have damaging effects on your health. In fact, a 2010 study found that people who watched four or more hours a day were 46% more likely to die from a heart disease cause than people who watched less than two hours a day. Each additional hour you watch increases your overall risk of dying by 11% and dying from heart disease by 18%.
Sleep in Complete Darkness
Studies have shown that women who sleep in completely dark rooms have better hormone balance. Darkness increases the release of melatonin to promote better sleep and more alert wake cycles. This means no light through the window, no night lights, and no alarm clock shining into your eyes.
Reach out
Studies have found that individual are at a greater risk of developing serious health conditions without a strong network of friends and family. Loneliness has been linked to inflammation, high cholesterol and bad habits such as smoking. Loneliness is a present at high levels in the elderly population, who are also prone to depression.
The Ol’ Fruits and Vegetables
These 2 groups are considered the nutritional powerhouses of food. They are filled with fiber and vitamins, and are extremely important in anyone’s diet at any point in their lives. Fruits and veggies have been found to lower your risk of heart disease, decrease risk of breast cancer, improve inflammation-fighting and circulation-boosting antioxidants, and even help banish wrinkles.
Focus on Fitness
Try to get up every hour throughout the day even if only for 30 seconds to prevent blood and lymph from stagnating. Try walking, stretching, jogging on the spot, yoga, or Tai Chi. Working out is highly known for its positive effects on heart, mind, and metabolism.
Quit Smoking
Quitting smoking is perhaps the single most important thing you can do for your health—and your life span. Quitting can slow disease and increase survival odds even in smokers who have already caused significant damage to their lungs, like those with early lung cancer or COPD.
End your day with gratitude
Take at least 3 seconds to find one thing in your day to be thankful for. This is a great time to congratulate yourself on incorporating these new techniques into your routine.
